Change is in our DNA
Founded in 2011 by Ruud Zandvliet and Edvard Hendriksen, Taxi Electric was a leader in sustainability by being the first taxi company in the world to opt for 100% electric driving. And not Teslas with a range of 500 kilometers or more, but Nissan Leafs that had to recharge after 80 kilometers. The passion and ideals of the founders were clean air in Amsterdam, courteous service and a second chance for unemployed people over 50. “Change the system” was their mission.

Travel Electric: sustainable mobility, motto “Driving change”
About mobility and the Sustainable Development Goals
As early as 2011, Travel Electric, then known as Taxi Electric, was the first to choose 100% electric transport. This makes passenger transport without CO2 and particulate matter possible, which directly benefits the livability of the city (clean air). In 2015, the United Nations selected 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). By opting for 100% electric passenger transport, Travel Electric supports 3 specific SDGs:
SDG 9 Industry, innovation, infrastructure
SDG 11 Sustainable cities
SDG 13 Climate action
In the Netherlands, work on the precursor to this began in 2013 when DSM, TruePrice, and Worldconnectors drew up the SDG Charter. As a customer of Travel Electric, your organization contributes to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. Each quarter, you will receive a report from Travel Electric detailing the rides taken, kilometers traveled, and the consequent reduction in CO2, NOx, and PM10 emissions.
